I still have nightmares

Okay, so, usually what I am drawn to is cheap and easy, and let's just say this one was a stretch. I don't REALLY still have nightmares about it, but mannnnn, it was a doozie. But isn't it super cute???

Okay, here's the deal with this little project. It went something like this:
1. find this gorgeous project from these awesome girls and decide to make it.
2. buy the wood from the cut list they provide.
3. let it sit in your garage for like, EVER.
4. finally make it.
Um, so, we had to borrow a lot of tools for this project. And I don't have a price for the whole project because that was before the blog. :) But here's my best guess:
Wreath display:
I think I spent about $16 on the wood. I probably already had the stain and paint from other projects, so I didn't have to buy those. Oh but I had to buy brad nails to replace the ones I borrowed from a friend. But that's it for the wreath holder.
Wreath:
I got this little hoop thingy at 40% off at Hobby Lobby: https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Basic-Crafts/Macrame/Steel-Ring---19%22/p/20854 and then this guy from At Home: https://www.athome.com/eucalyptus-bush-22/124269905.html
And here's the deal. The idea was to be able to switch out the wreath, but I couldn't find anything I liked enough to spend like TWENTY FIVE bucks or so on, so I just made one. And if you look closely you'll see zip ties and random wire pieces holding that thing together, but hey... it worked. And if I find something to swap it out with later I can still do that. :)
SO...this project was very hard guys. Like, really hard. I hadn't done much wood-work, and I really want to do more, but this was a doooooozzziiiieeeeeeeeee to start with. I should have taken a woodworking 101 class first because honestly, I need things to be easier than this was. It was full of not-quite-right cuts, spilling stain, and I forget what happened but I ended up sanding this thing for like an hour trying to fix my mistakes. And it's way whiter than my fireplace. ugh. I finally called it quits. I had to. I was losing my mind. I'm definitely no Ashely and Whitney. They are SO GOOD. And the plans were perfect. So if YOU have woodworking skills, MAKE IT. But I won't be making another one anytime soon. :)
But now I look at it hanging above my fireplace and fall in love all over again:

And also, now that it's Christmas, I thought I'd want to switch out the wreath. But nope, I actually love it. (yes, we made those stockings. I'll post that eventually.)

Is it imperfect? yes. very. (but it turns out I actually LOVE the imperfections!!)
Is it good enough? yep, definitely.
