When we moved into this house, my sister had just bought her house and I fell in love with her new couches. So I bought them. She's so awesome and didn't even care. :)

It came with these pillows, which I loved, but just not for MY house for PILLOWS. I finally realized that I loved them for MY house for STOCKINGS. ha!!! I don't know WHY, but I just HAD to make them into stockings. So once we got close enough to Christmas, I planned a family sewing night and we got to work.

Here's the deal: I couldn't find a tutorial for stockings that I loved, so I taped paper together and just sorta drew out the shape I wanted. Then I cut the pillows up. :) For the inside liner, I knew I wanted something simple, but most of my spare fabric is super cute from my home based boutique days. But then I remembered... something in me told myself to keep my old CURTAINS from my old house's previous owners (this was like, I don't know, 7 years ago?). I LOVE to purge, big time, so it's a miracle this big ol' thing survived this long. I just knew it would be perfect for some project at some time, and this was the one. :)

Since this is not really a tutorial type of blog, I'm not even going to bother with telling you how I made these. Since I couldn't find a tutorial to follow, I just used my sewing knowledge and figured it out myself.

The point is, I used what I had on hand to make something that I LOOOOVE and got the fam involved too (they didn't love it as much as I did though)! ha!

And now, we have stockings that I love. You probably recognize this picture from the wreath holder post but here it is again, the finished product. I'm still trying to figure out how to make the mantle look a little bit more Christmas-y, but for now, it's just a little bare.

Of course I had to get new pillows since I cut up our old ones, but it's all good. Because these stockings make me super happy. :)

Are they perfect? nope, we can hardly fit anything in them actually.

But they're good enough.
